Upward Bound (UB) provides students with the necessary support services to pursue a higher education and aims at fostering the next generation of college graduates. Our goal is to increase the number of students progressing onto higher education who are successful in the baccalaureate and beyond. Upward Bound is a federally funded TRIO program designed primarily to assist low-income and potential first-generation college students with enrolling and preparing to succeed in college, at the following Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) schools: Magnolia, and Savanna High School; and Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) schools: Santa Ana, Saddleback, Century, and Valley High School. The program provides tailored academic advisement, academic support, and college access programming for students to ensure that they are provided with the highest-quality opportunities to be successful in college.
Through the Summer Instructional Component participants are exposed to a real-life college experience during an intensive six-week summer program. Scholars will participate in college and career workshops, connect with professionals and community members, meet college admission officers, and prepare to undertake a rigorous course of study for the following 2026 – 2027 academic year. The goal for the Summer Instructional Component is to ensure each student is developing the essential skills to become analytical, self-sufficient, problem-solver, and critical thinker. The Summer Program Instructional Component will be conducted in-person at California State University, Fullerton. The primary role of the instructor will be to expose participants to academically rigorous and college preparatory coursework.
