Position OverviewTilcon Connecticut has an opening for an Equipment Mechanic. This position requires working in a team-oriented environment alongside co-workers and management. All employees are expected to partner with associates and leadership to coordinate, support, and actively promote Tilcon Connecticut's safety processes.
The Equipment Mechanic reports directly to the Equipment Manager and is responsible for complying with mandatory safety requirements and supporting the overall functions of the maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)- Diagnose malfunctions and repair, rebuild, and maintain construction equipment, including but not limited to:
- Trucks and trailers
- Cranes and paving machines
- Motor graders, trenching equipment, bulldozers
- Pumps, compressors, and pneumatic tools
- Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance services in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and company standards.
- Operate and inspect machines and equipment to diagnose defects.
- Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools.
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers, gauges, and diagnostic tools.
- Replace defective engines and major subassemblies such as transmissions and powertrain components.
- Test repaired or overhauled equipment to ensure proper operation and efficiency.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education and Experience- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum three (3) years of mechanical experience required.
- Preferred: Two (2) years of mechanical technical school training.
- Moderate IT/computer skills for diagnostics and repair of engines, transmissions, and powertrain systems.
Work Requirements- Thorough mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment and vehicles.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ability to pass:
- Pre-employment drug screening
- Criminal background check
- "Fit for Work" physical examination
