EHS Specialist (Manufacturing) (Bloomington, MN)

Job Description

As our EHS Specialist , you will develop and implement Environmental, Health, Safety policies and procedures. This emphasis will focus on safeguarding employees; and helping manage our environmental impact. You will also be responsible for maintaining a healthy, safe and productive workplace through the education and training of employees in safe work practices, knowledge of emergency procedures, administration of company safety policies for compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.

What will you do?
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining compliance with safety, health and environmental regulations, ensuring CPP Minneapolis is in compliance with state, federal and county government regulations.
  • Partner with management, plant personnel, and other stakeholders to develop improvements, processes, procedures, audits and training across the operations.
  • Provide expertise and leadership to foster a comprehensive safety culture and plant personnel behaviors that prevent incidents, injuries, and illnesses.
  • Assist in identifying hazards and demonstrate methods and solutions to mitigate hazards.
  • Accompany inspectors through the plant, prepare reports for government agencies and make application for permits as necessary.
  • Develops and maintains programs and policies for safety, fire protection and good housekeeping to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of employees.
  • Train employees on company safety policies and procedures and properly maintain all training records.
  • Investigates accidents, incidents and medical problems, conducts root cause analysis and initiates corrective actions to prevent further illness or injury.
  • Perform routine inspections of the plant for hazardous conditions, including monthly fire suppression equipment inspections.
  • Prepare documentation for permits and required programs, partnering with the Facilities & Maintenance team.
  • Coordination/ planning of, annual hearing testing and hearing conservation program Respiratory protection, and/or other H&S programs at the Minneapolis facility
  • Participates in the safety committee, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials and coordinating team activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Prepare/ inspect/ and profile various waste streams for proper disposal or recycling.
  • Maintain accurate recordkeeping documentation for environmental reporting.
  • Works on site at our Bloomington location

What can you bring to the table?
  • Bachelors' degree in EHS Sciences or related field required
  • 1+ years previous Environmental, Health and Safety experience required for this role
  • Working knowledge of Environmental, Safety, and Transportation regulations
  • Attention to detail, ability to communicate at all levels of the organization, working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), ability to work with others through complex situations
