Supplier Dev Engineer II

Job Description

As a Supplier Development Engineer II for the Electronics Value Stream, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of electronic suppliers. You will be responsible for developing strategic partnerships with suppliers, managing their performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and supply chain efficiency.

You will report directly to our Director of Supplier Development, and you’ll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule.

In this role, you will impact our supplier development by bringing your extensive expertise and experience to our organization. You will play a critical role in driving supplier performance and ensuring that our suppliers meet the highest quality standards. Your contributions directly impact our organization's operational excellence and overall success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supplier Capability Assessment: Evaluate the capabilities of electronic component suppliers and support the transition of hardware from development to production.
  • Quality Improvement Plans: Conduct supplier risk assessments and implement targeted quality improvement plans specific to electronic component manufacturing processes.
  • Performance Management: Lead and participate in capacity assessment exercises, driving supplier performance by establishing clear metrics and performance expectations related to electronic components.
  • Operational Excellence: Partner with Suppliers toLead and support OPEX projects enabling improvements in product flow / throughput, lead time reduction, & yield.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that electronic component suppliers comply with quality management systems, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborative Engagement: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to resolve supplier-related issues and improve overall supply chain performance.

  • Evaluate supplier performance and conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with quality and delivery requirements
  • Collaborate with suppliers to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions to enhance their performance
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize supplier processes and reduce costs
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fostering collaboration and open communication
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including Engineering, Quality, and Operations, to resolve supplierrelated issues and drive process improvements
  • Conduct supplier risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to ensure a reliable and resilient supply chain
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics and provide regular reports to management
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in supplier development and incorporate them into our processes
  • Support new product development by collaborating with suppliers to ensure timely and successful product launches


Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
  • Ability to travel local & domestically 25% normally, and up to 50% (on rare occasion).
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, production planning, procurement and / or supply chain with a focus on.
  • Proficiency in quality management and problem-solving tools, including Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and/or Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP/PPAP).
  • Ability to work effectively across borders and engage with diverse teams.

WE VALUE
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards and practices related to electronics components / PWB manufacturing, production, design, engineering, NPI
  • In-depth knowledge of supplier development strategies, supplier relationship management, and quality control
  • Experience with project management and Kaizen facilitation – participant or lead role.
  • Good communication skills with a demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with Total Preventative Maintenance, asset management for downtime reduction, critical spare parts, and CAPEX proposals.
  • Proficiency in budget management and financial acumen
  • Green or Black Belt Certification(s) in Lean / Six Sigma
