Responsibilities- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of SQL Server Database Administrators, providing guidance, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
- Database Administration: Ensure the 24x7 availability, security, and performance of SQL Server database systems, including installations, configurations, upgrades, and patch management.
- Performance Tuning: Proactively identify and resolve performance issues, optimizing queries, and database configurations to enhance system efficiency.
- High Availability: Implement and manage high availability solutions such as clustering, AlwaysOn, and replication to minimize downtime.
- Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
- Security and Compliance: Enforce database security best practices, monitor access controls, and ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
- Capacity Planning: Monitor database growth trends and plan for scalability, making hardware and infrastructure recommendations as needed.
- Emergency Response: Be on-call to address critical database incidents and outages, leading the team in troubleshooting and resolution.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and incident reports.
- Vendor Relationships: Manage relationships with database software and service providers, evaluating and recommending tools and solutions as necessary.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, and/or 7+ years of experience in SQL Server database administration, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proficiency in SQL, T-SQL, and SQL Server performance optimization.
- Experience with high availability solutions such as clustering, AlwaysOn, and replication.
- Strong understanding of backup and recovery strategies.
- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Availability for 24x7 on-call support as needed.
