This position is 100% on-site Monday through Friday 3-11pm and is eligible for the Evening Shift Differential!
The Building Management Systems (BMS) Controls Specialist is responsible for installing, programming, commissioning, and maintaining BMS controls and graphics to optimize HVAC, lighting, and other facility operations. This role serves as a direct customer contact, providing troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of system components to ensure seamless integration and reliable performance. Working closely with project teams and users, the specialist delivers efficient, sustainable solutions while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor, troubleshoot and make repairs to all DDC control system operations
- Implement training programs pertaining to the DDC systems, updating software revisions, writing new programs to better control mechanical systems.
- Monitor and support fire protection control systems tied to the DDC systems.
- Meet as necessary with HVAC Manager and Controls Manager concerning program changes to system operations.
- Assist in developing preventive maintenance documents to maintain reliability and control function to perform at their maximum capabilities.
- Coordinate with all trades to keep all systems operating at the highest reliability.
- Make periodic rounds to check all building support equipment and maintain operating log of conditions observed.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records for all control systems and energy management programs.
- Responsible for maintaining records of work done, time records and P/M records through the CMMS system.
- Interface with numerous contractors, engineers, and institute professionals.
- Attend project, operational, and design meetings, as needed.
- Will be required to attend control system training at Management’s discretion
- May be required to be on call.
- Must provide the highest level of personal safety protection at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Control system installation and configuration
- Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including design, use, repair, and maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints; knowledge of building construction standards and applicable codes
- Familiarity with technical design principles and tools
- Strong organizational skills; ability to follow procedures and sequence tasks
- Manual dexterity to use trade tools
- Effective verbal communication and active listening skills
