Job Summary
The Real Estate Manager serves as the University’s primary expert and administrator for all offcampus leasing, real estate acquisitions, and propertyrelated compliance processes. This role leads the full lifecycle of offcampus leases for UK, UKHC, UKKD, and St. Claire, partnering closely with departments to assess space needs, manage negotiations, coordinate IT and facilities requirements, and ensure adherence to state statutes, legal standards, and internal approvals. The position maintains the University’s master lease data, oversees templates and documentation, and acts as the main liaison between departments and landlords to support smooth operations and issue resolution.

In addition to leasing, the Real Estate Manager drives real estate strategy and due diligence for property acquisitions—coordinating appraisals, environmental assessments, legal reviews, negotiations, transaction documentation, and closing logistics. The role provides financial oversight for all real estate activity, including rent payments, cost center management, invoicing coordination with UKHC and Campus Accounting, and the preparation of reports, purchase orders, journal vouchers, and other required financial documents.

The Real Estate Manager also leads the University’s compliance responsibilities related to Kentucky lease law audits, ensuring full documentation, department coordination, and auditready materials across all entities. As a people and budget manager, the role supervises Real Estate staff, directs workload and performance, manages the Real Estate budget, and oversees accurate data entry into LeaseQuery and internal tracking systems. This position requires strong commercial real estate expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments across academic, healthcare, and administrative units.
