*Medical Director*
Freddie's Place Animal Hospital + Urgent Care is seeking a Medical Director to call “Our Place” their new home. We are located in the fast growing community of Vista California and we are servicing clients in the North County region of San Diego.

You’ll be joining a full service, collaborative team of professionals and you will be supported by an outstanding group of fellow veterinarians, technicians, and our practice manager.

*Position Overview*
Our Medical Director will be given the opportunity to lead and manage the hospital, ensure the continued delivery of highest quality of medical care, create a personal and unique client experience with every interaction, drive growth and engagement in our staff, and maximize productivity of the Freddie’s Place Best Care Anywhere Team.
Our Medical Director advocates for pets and their quality of life; builds long-term relationships with our clients and educates pet parents, and our hospital team, on all aspects of pet health and wellness care. By fostering the human/pet bond, your leadership will create a nurturing and caring environment that promotes happy clients, healthy pets, and guarantees return business.
The Medical Director partners with the our staff of veterinary doctors, department heads, our support staff, and Practice Manger (if applicable) to operate an affective and productive hospital team, ensuring a safe and engaging hospital environment, with a keen focus on the quality of medical care, assuring a positive client experience and driving the successful business performance of the hospital.
*Essential Responsibilities and Tasks*
The balance of daily time spent on leadership, management, and performing “in role” duties will vary depending on the fast paced hospital workflow, client and patient needs, and daily business volume.
*Leadership Responsibilities*
Our Medical Director should live and exemplify the Mission, Vision, and principals of the Freddie’s Place brand by setting positive examples in both leadership and client care.
Assume the lead as the champion of the brand and always present positive examples for Freddie’s Place and our standards. Assure our team provides consistent high-quality care, best-in-class client experiences for pets and parents alike. Drive our team to maximize efficiency, productivity, and profitability with every interaction. Train the team on hospital guidelines, practices, and supervise the team to ensure compliance.
Oversee and train the team to present a professional attitude and appearance, assure client “pre-release” education on their pets health and care , suggest preventive health maintenance, explain ongoing pet health needs, support our marketing campaigns, and effectively resolve client issues as the final point of escalation and face of our hospital.
Identify potential issues or opportunities and formulate solutions to remove barriers in our operations that would impede the team from delivering the Freddie’s Place brand of old-fashion compassionate care.
Partner with the Department Managers, Veterinary Staff, and Practice Manager to interview, select, train, develop, coach, mentor, and if necessary, discipline and terminate team members.
Partner with the Practice Manager to create and maintain veterinarians’ work schedules that ensure proper coverage to meet client needs and the proactive planning of PTO and support scheduling.
Develop annual planning, budgeting, and hospital productivity levels for the hospital.
Provide effective two-way communication to assure the hospital team delivers a positive and uniform message at all times
Provide or arrange training and support on systems, technology, and support functions for all team members
Provide, coach, mentor, and train our team to deliver our client experience standards with every interaction.
Be the ambassador of the Freddie’s Place brand and lead all of our team members and hospitals staff with positive examples. Create a workplace setting that identifies our hospital as a “Place to Be” environment that helps to drive staff retention and promote teamwork.
*Functional Responsibilities*
Establish trust, gain the confidence, compliance, and cooperation of clients through effectively delivering appropriate pet care, performing complete diagnostic work ups, developing thorough treatment plans, communicating home after care instructions, and planning follow up visits.
Effectively communicate diagnosis and treatment plan to hospital team and clients
Build collaborative relationships: build strong professional relationships with team members, clients, and the Vista community.
Lead the hospital team through the daily caseload, delegating tasks to the team and improving hospital efficiency, along with monitoring the ongoing client experience.
Demonstrate integrity and ethics in all actions and behaviors. Be the leader that each situation requires.
*Qualifications/Requirements:*
DVM/VMD required, MBA or other advanced degree, a plus.
Veterinary License in good standing or eligibility for licensure with the applicable state veterinary board.
Minimum 2 years of clinical experience required.
1-3 years coaching associate doctors.
Visible positive track record of leading and managing a veterinary team to success outcomes and overcoming adverse situations
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $200,120.00 - $210,633.00 per year
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
