Sr Network Engineer

Job Description

TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is hiring a Senior Network Engineer to join our team in Orlando, Florida.

Summary
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end design, implementation, security, and support of complex enterprise and field-based network environments that are critical to business operations. This role provides advanced technical leadership across routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, WAN, and cloud connected networks to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure connectivity.
As the senior technical authority for network infrastructure, the role leads architecture initiatives, resolves complex Tier 2/3 issues, supports major upgrades, and works closely with cross functional partners to maintain high availability and performance while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to network standards and long-term strategy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, redundant network architectures supporting enterprise and field environments.
• Integrate routers, switches, firewalls, and related network infrastructure into both legacy and modern platforms.
• Perform hands on network integration, including fieldwork and on-site deployments as required.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues, providing Tier 2/3 support for high priority incidents.
• Lead and support network upgrades including fiber, wireless, security, and modernization initiatives.
• Configure, install, and maintain network equipment across multiple environments.
• Collaborate with software, systems, operations, QA, and field teams to ensure seamless connectivity and integration.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce network standards, configurations, and technical documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across the team.
• Participate in on call rotations and support after hours activities as needed.
• Support compliance with cybersecurity policies, industry standards, and service level expectations.

Requirements and Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
• Typically requires a Bachelor of Science and 10-13 years of related experience.
• Extensive experience in network engineering, including routing, switching, wireless, WAN, and network security.
• Strong background in network design, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery network architectures.
• Proficiency with Windows, Active Directory, and Linux environments.
• Experience with enterprise networking platforms such as Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or similar technologies.
• Working knowledge of network analysis and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Wireshark).
• Experience supporting servers and virtualization environments (Hyper V and/or VMware) in a networked context.
• Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, Python, or similar) preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Must maintain a valid driver's license in good standing for occasional on‑site travel.
