Job Summary
Job Summary: The job incumbent works closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide individual or group nutrition screening, assessment, diagnosis, education, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation. Recommend nutritional plans for patients based on their clinical diagnoses and the patient’s individual needs and readiness.
Adheres to the TCC Ch’eghwtsen’ model of service and guiding principle which requires providing timely and effective service along with the ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust and demonstrates respect, compassion, and empathy.

Representative Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager the job incumbent will:
1. Provide comprehensive medical nutrition therapy to TCC Health Services beneficiaries through one-on-one visits and/or group classes.
2. Provide other preventative nutrition services for TCC beneficiaries, with priority on patients at high risk for chronic diseases.
3. Provided nutrition and education services to patients via telehealth when indicated and appropriate.
4. Develop nutrition education materials including articles for the print and electronic media, health fairs, and group education.
5. Manage, implement, and maintain the nutritional supplement program for TCC beneficiaries adhering to TCC policies and guidelines.
6. Organize, implement, and manage chronic disease prevention programs across the TCC region.
7. Travel to villages to participate in health fairs, nutrition education, and wellness and prevention programs.
8. Assist with quality assurance and improvement activities related to grant funding or accrediting body requirements.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
2. May be required to travel to communities throughout the TCC region.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition and dietetics with two years of professional practice, or Master of Science degree in nutrition and dietetics with no prior experience.
2. Must hold a current Registered Dietitian license (RD) with the State of Alaska.
3. Previous experience working in Rural Alaska or providing medical care to Alaska Natives preferred.
4. Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements and State of Alaska background check.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. In-depth knowledge of chronic disease processes, pathophysiology, treatment, and prevention strategies required.
2. High level of cultural competency with the ability to adapt curriculum content and teaching to varying cognitive abilities and beliefs.
3. Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
4. Ability to make independent judgments and work well under pressure.
5. Ability to collect accurate data, maintain records, and compile reports.
6. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
7. Computer literacy including the use of Microsoft Office is required. Familiarity with using electronic health records and patient management systems.
Supervision: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Supervision
Physical demands: Work requires considerable walking, standing, stretching, bending, and lifting to assist patients, move equipment, and issue supplies. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
Work Environment: Work is primarily in a clinic setting with occasional travel to villages. May be exposed to blood and other potentially infectious materials.
