The Condra School is seeking to hire a LCSW. That person will act as a vital link between the home, school, and community, serving as a mental health professional who addresses social, emotional, and behavioral barriers to student learning. They will be expected to provide a wide range of services from direct counseling to system-wide interventions.
*Core Roles and Responsibilities*
The primary goal of this position is to support the holistic well-being of students so they can succeed academically. This involves working across three tiers of intervention (prevention, early intervention, and intensive support).
Specific duties generally fall into the following categories:
_*1. Direct Student & Family Services*_
Provide direct support to students and their families, leveraging clinical licensure to offer specialized mental health interventions.
* *Individual and Group Counseling:* Provide therapy sessions for students dealing with issues such as anxiety, stress, trauma, grief, family changes (divorce, domestic violence), and peer conflicts.
* *Crisis Intervention:* Respond immediately to school-wide crises, individual emergencies, or situations involving suicidal ideation, child abuse, or neglect.
* *Assessment and Diagnosis:* Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and social histories to evaluate a student's needs, including diagnosing mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders within their scope of practice.
* *Behavioral Interventions:* Develop and implement positive behavioral intervention strategies and plans (like Functional Behavioral Assessments or FBAs) in collaboration with school teams.
* *Home Visits:* Conduct home visits to better understand a student's living situation and familial factors impacting their school performance.
_*2. Case Management & Community Liaison*_
A key function of this position is connecting disparate systems to support the student.
* *Resource Navigation: *Connect families with essential community resources, such as food banks, housing assistance, medical care, mental health agencies, and legal aid.
* *Interagency Coordination:* Act as the link between the school and outside social service or mental health agencies to coordinate wrap-around support.
* *Special Education Support:* Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Section 504 meetings to ensure students with disabilities receive appropriate related services and accommodations.
* *Advocacy:* Advocate for students' needs and rights within the school and community, particularly for at-risk or vulnerable populations (e.g., homeless or foster students).
_*3. Consultation and System-Level Support*_
The selected candidate will work beyond individual students to improve the overall school environment and culture.
* *Staff Consultation:* Consult with teachers and administrators to provide insights into factors (cultural, societal, economic) affecting student behavior and learning, and offering behavior management strategies.
* *Policy Development:* Collaborate on school policies related to mental health intervention, crisis management, safety plans, and restorative justice initiatives.
* *Professional Development:* Provide training and workshops for staff and parents on topics like trauma-informed practices, mental health awareness, substance abuse prevention, and cultural competence.
_*The selected candidate may be asked to obtain credentials required to supervise LCSW & LMSW candidates to provide services within the school.*_

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
