Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an Electrical Inspector to join our Resilience Water Team! Based in our Hanover, MD office, this position primarily involves field work and will support our programs with Harford County, Anne Arundel County, DC Water, WSSC, and Fairfax County. A primary responsibility of the role will be supporting Arcadis' power systems study work for the Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works.

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our local team while receiving support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. The Electrical Inspector will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of construction inspection, construction field management, QA / QC and report documentation, on various construction and/or reconstruction projects for municipal water and wastewater treatment, power generation, manufacturing facilities or other heavy construction projects. The Inspector will report to a Construction Manager and will be primarily based in the field and will provide regular updates on daily construction activities.

Role accountabilities:

In this role, you will observe and inspect construction work performed by contractors, perform punch list inspections, review drawings and specifications and other technical documents, prepare detailed daily activity and progress reports and participate in project schedule and contractor invoice reviews.

A significant part of the role will include investigations at Anne Arundel County facilities to gather information for power system studies work. This may involve inspecting live electrical equipment.

In this job, you will be responsible for maintaining quality assurance requirements and approach while monitoring code compliance issues. You will inspect and identify deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents and communicate necessary corrections to the contractor clearly and professionally. Additionally, you will review submittals and construction documents, offering recommendations for technical solutions. Regular attendance at construction meetings, safety updates, and project site coordination meetings is required.

As part of your role, you will monitor and document contractor resource utilization for field changes, time and material work, and assist in negotiating basic construction changes. You will also verify the installation of equipment and materials for payment verification and meticulously maintain Payment Quantity documentation. Mathematical calculations will be part of your inspection activities, and you will ensure that Arcadis' project safety guidelines are adhered to during daily inspections. Travel to various project sites is essential for visits, client meetings, safety audits, and construction oversight. Additionally, you will be assigned other duties as needed.

The candidate selected for this role will be required to obtain the Arcadis electrical qualified certification.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

10 years of experience in electrical installation of electrical infrastructure, municipal, and utility construction inspection experience.

Key Skills and Attributes:
  • Performing system analysis using ETAP, SKM Power Tools or other power systems analysis software. At a minimum, provide engineering responsibility for staff using these software packages to publish a power systems study with arc flash hazard analysis.
  • Conducting field inspections, overseeing projects in construction which includes identifying deviations from design, performing general QA/QC of completed work, and monitoring safety compliance.
  • Ability to multi-task several priorities and possess solid time management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (particularly MS Excel, MS Word, MS SharePoint and Outlook).
  • Position requires employee to work year-round in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of electrical/utility construction inspection experience.
  • Master Electrician License.
  • NFPA Certified Electrical Inspector (CEI) certification.
  • NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Training
  • OSHA 10 Safety and Confined Space Entry Training, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $80,461 - $132,761/year. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
