Basic Purpose
Responsible for the achievement of renewable and energy storage facility production and availability goals. Engages and coordinates all facility staff, internal business units and external services for one or more plant site(s) that are locally and/or remotely controlled. Serves as a leader and acts as the sole contact for all employees and contracted services to ensure safe and reliable facility operations, thorough communications, and adherence to operations, maintenance, and compliance procedures at the site(s). In addition, the supervisor is responsible for establishing site production, availability, and individual goals, adhering to the site budget, and communicating with the management team.


Responsibilities


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for site maintenance, operations, and reliability to meet daily plant production obligations and corporate goals.
  • Oversees the operations and maintenance of plant equipment, substation, or other issues that fall within the area of responsibility.
  • Ensures safety aspects at the site, including safety walks in the field and the orientation of new employees, site visitors and contractors.
  • Schedules and coordinates all site activities up to and including equipment Lock Out Tag Out, preventive, corrective, and reactive maintenance.
  • Supervises projects, contracted services, local and remote operating control rooms, monitoring services, planning activities, and bargaining unit employees.
  • Provides planning services including parts procurement and logistic support for unit outages and corrective/preventive work orders.
  • Oversees reactive, corrective, and preventative capital improvement projects.
  • Promotes environmental awareness and ensures regulatory compliance.
  • Responds to emergency situations at any hour of the day or night.
  • Promotes a flexible work culture, adaptable to unit dispatch and unplanned events.
  • Organizes and prioritizes work for timely completion including applicable documentation and record keeping utilizing computerized work management system and department procedures.
  • Provides vision, leadership, and direction for teams of employees and support services for the site(s). Plays an integral role in an active leadership team, keeping site(s) prepared and qualified to achieve the objectives.
  • Ensures effective communication and promotes customer relationship in all activities.
  • Promotes a long-term interest in the operation and maintenance of the site(s).
  • Leads teams towards productive excellence by identifying and resolving opportunities for safety, environmental, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Ensures a quality program of training standards and training implementation for site(s)
  • Resolves conflicts as needed.
  • Implements and monitors adherence to company procedures, standards, new product initiatives and best practices.
  • Manages the site(s) budget, business plans, forecasts, availability, and production
  • Provides accurate and timely reporting on various aspects of plant equipment and production.
  • Identifies, recommends, and executes plant improvement projects.
  • Optimizes site performance using technical knowledge and experience.
  • Participates in staffing and budget decisions.
  • Manages for the site(s) annual and 10-year budget planning and adherence.
  • Oversees quality reporting (daily, weekly, monthly): budget, availability, production, etc.
  • Maintains a productive and engaged staff through expectations of productivity and quality standards acting as a role model of safety, reliability, and plant teamwork.
  • Ensures team members’ success by providing the support, tools, training, and development opportunities to perform jobs safely, economically, and efficiently.
  • Provides guidance, training, and direction to subordinates, including setting site and individual goals, and performance standards.
  • Mentors, develops, and manages performance of employees through observation and feedback.
  • Ensures compliance with the terms of collective bargaining agreement and applicable labor law and coordinates with Company’s Labor Relations Department to provide timely and accurate responses to grievances and Union requests for information.
  • Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to position and company.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school and 4 years of related and progressive work experience

Candidates that do not possess a degree must have a minimum of 8 years of related and progressive work experience.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of:

  • Field technician knowledge typical of renewable site(s) or similar applicable knowledge
  • NERC GOP responsibilities
  • Understanding of all aspects of solar PV design, Battery facilities, installation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding of NEC code, particularly Article 690
  • Read and understand electrical prints and racking plans
  • Ability to identify proper electrical workmanship practices
  • AC & DC electricity and grid intertie PV systems
  • 3-Phase electrical systems.
  • Data acquisition systems, control systems, and associated networks and communication equipment.

    Demonstrated skills such as:

  • Analytical, interpersonal and communication.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate multiple crews.
  • Teamwork to foster a positive team environment through collaborative decision making.
  • Working collaboratively with people and initiatives affecting multiple organizations
  • Negotiation, persuading, motivating, and other face-to-face skills are required.

    Equipment and Applications
    PCs, word processing, spreadsheet, operating interfaces, data history applications, and database software.

    Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Under 10% travel.
  • Site Supervisors spend 60% of the time working in the field and 40% of the time is spent in the office environment utilizing computer, phones and general office equipment and supplies for reporting functions and record keeping.
  • Work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to work alone or group environment.
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
  • Shift work may be required for assignments or outages.
  • Frequent oral and written communications.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holiday as required.
