Summary of position:
The Baker Center for Children and Families (also known as Judge Baker Children's Center), promotes the best possible mental health of children and families through the integration of research, intervention, training, and policy.
The Human Resources Generalist holds both administrative and strategic responsibilities. The Human Resources Generalist assists in managing the day-to-day functions of the Human Resources department to include recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, policy enforcement, performance management, staffing, and ad hoc HR projects for The Baker Center. The Human Resources Generalist reports directly to the Senior Director of Human Resources and provides effective customer (employee) experience for all Baker Center employees. This position is responsible for supporting the smooth operation of the Human Resources department.

Essential duties:
- Administers core HR operations, including benefits (403(b), leaves, COBRA), workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and coordination of onboarding and separations.
- Oversees recruiting and hiring activities, including workforce planning, sourcing, screening, interviewing, posting positions, and partnering with leadership on recruitment strategies.
- Manages employee relations matters, including counseling, corrective action, terminations, and maintenance of compliant documentation.
- Leads performance management processes, including system design, evaluation cycles, and monitoring completion of evaluations and required trainings through the LMS.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, including multi-state and remote worker requirements, OSHA reporting, I-9/E-Verify, and background checks.
- Develops, updates, and enforces HR policies, procedures, and organizational guidelines in alignment with legal and regulatory standards.
- Maintains accurate employee records and HR data; prepares reports, supports audits, and partners with Finance on employment verification and data accuracy.
- Coordinates HR programs and events, including staff meetings, wellness initiatives, flu clinics, and participation on Safety and Wellness Committees.
- Conducts transition and exit interviews, analyzes trends, and partners with HR and organizational leadership to strengthen retention and leadership effectiveness.
- Stays current on HR best practices, employment legislation, and industry trends; performs special projects and other duties to support organizational operations.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related fields required.
- Additional experience in Human Resources may be substituted for educational requirements.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of human resources working in Human Service/non-profit, behavioral health, Social Work, Clinical or Education is required.
- Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Experience in benefits, leave of absence, and performance management preferred.
- Experience working in HR with not-for-profit preferred.
- Advance PC skills with proficiency in Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint); and with working with HRIS systems: UKG, Kronos, UltiPro experience a plus.
Training:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.), HCM and familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and products required. Must be comfortable learning new technical systems as needed.
- Understanding of Human Resources best practices, trends, regulatory changes, and innovative technologies in human resources and employment law.

Logistics
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000; based on experience
