What You Will Do
  • Implement, coordinate, and oversee the day-to-day operation of systems and servers used to provide reliable IT services to the University.
  • Manage systems such as Office365/email, e-ID operations for University logins, and servers supporting applications like MiPacs, axiUm dental records, and others.
  • Assist in the operation and implementation of VMware, centralized storage systems, and data center equipment.
  • Contribute to the design, maintenance, and upgrade planning of existing systems, as well as the evaluation and implementation planning of new systems.
  • Ensure that all enterprise services remain available and secured at all times and support client support teams in providing user assistance for systems.
  • Develop and monitor scripts and middleware, research and install patches, upgrade applications, and install and maintain server hardware and operating systems


Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

  1. High school graduation or equivalent.
  2. Any combination totaling two (2) years from the following categories:
    • Progressively more responsible work experience in an Information Technology (IT) related profession.
    • College coursework in Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table (or proportional equivalent):
      • 60 semester hours or Associate's degree = one (1) year
      • 90-120 semester hours or Bachelor's degree = two (2) years

PLUS:
  1. Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience managing systems and/or servers in a complex IT environment.
  2. Two (2) years of experience managing UNIX/Linux or Windows Server/Active Directory in a multi-server environment.
  3. Two (2) years of experience writing or maintaining scripts or small programs (e.g., Perl, Shell, PowerShell).
  4. Experience with network technologies including Ethernet, TCP/IP, and firewalls.
  5. General business skills such as project management, maintaining a physical inventory, the ability to work independently, and to interact effectively with clients.
