These iron samples are sent to the Lab from the production floor through a tubing system. The Lab Technician takes the iron sample writes the time on it and then grinds it with grinder tools until the sample is smooth. Then another Lab Technician inspects the sample under a microscope to ensure the iron is melting properly.  The Lab Technician is also responsible for testing the sand that is used to make molds to ensure the consistency and chemistry are correct.
