The candidate will join a dynamic team of scientists with diverse expertise working to advance understanding and develop the science and technology of liquid metals to be used as plasma-facing components in fusion reactors. This involves developing, building and testing several different component concepts, with keen attention to the liquid metal safety. This also involves developing and testing systems to purify liquid metal streams of fuel and impurities. The successful candidate may also participate in the liquid metal component testing program in the NSTX-U device at PPPL.
