These iron samples are sent to the Lab from the production floor through a tubing system. The Lab Technician takes the iron sample writes the time on it and then grinds it with grinder tools until the sample is smooth. Then another Lab Technician inspects the sample under a microscope to ensure the iron is melting properly.  The Lab Technician is also responsible for testing the sand that is used to make molds to ensure the consistency and chemistry are correct. The Lab Technician responsible for testing the sand operates a jeep to go to each machine to collect samples. As part of a team guided by Core Operations, Core Support works with other team members on designated machines to assemble units made from sand in a timely, accurate manner. Core Support members inspect assembled units for quality and actively work to maintain a high standard of production. Core Support members wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as cores are constructed from sand and, in some cases, are joined and/or fitted together.
