We are seeking a dedicated and skilled full-time Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our compassionate veterinary team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional animal care, assist veterinarians with medical procedures, and ensure a high standard of clinical support. This role requires a strong foundation in veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and hands-on animal handling techniques. Experience in laboratory procedures and veterinary critical care is highly valued. The Licensed Veterinary Technician will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive pet care and supporting the health and well-being of our animal patients. Companion Animal Hospital has been a part of the Springfield, VA community since 1988. Our mission is to provide our patients with the most knowledgeable and up-to-date pet health care possible, while offering our clients the best customer service.
We are open Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. We're closed Saturday and Sunday, and on major holidays.
*What We’re Looking For:*
* Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures, including X-ray imaging.
* Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and staff.
* Conduct laboratory tests, prepare samples, and interpret results to aid in diagnosis.
* Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments in accordance with aseptic techniques and veterinary protocols.
* Monitor anesthesia and recovery processes during surgical procedures.
* Maintain detailed medical records accurately and efficiently.
* Provide medical grooming and pet care srvices as needed to support client satisfaction.
* Assist with animal catheterization, wound care, and other critical veterinary procedures.
* Support pet owners by providing education on animal health, nutrition, and behavior.
*Candidates for our LVT position:*
* Valid license as a Veterinary Technician.
* Proven experience in veterinary settings with knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal anatomy.
* Hands-on experience with animal restraint, catheterization, and aseptic techniques.
* Familiarity with laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, and veterinary critical care practices.
* Assist with COHAT, such as prophylaxis, scaling/root planing, and oral surgery procedures.
* Strong understanding of animal physiology and pet care best practices.
* Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with veterinary staff and clients.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
