Immigration Attorney
*Ehsan Law, PLLC | Seattle/Tukwila, WA*
*$110,000–$170,000 annually, depending on experience*
*Full-time*
Ehsan Law is looking for an experienced immigration attorney to join our Seattle-area team and take significant ownership of our removal-defense and immigration-litigation practice.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for an attorney with meaningful courtroom experience before EOIR who can independently handle removal matters, including Individual Hearings.
The right attorney will have substantial autonomy, strong support from legal assistants and staff, and the opportunity to work on removal defense, detention and bond matters, complex motions and appeals, and federal immigration litigation.
What You’ll Do
* Independently manage removal-defense cases, including Master Calendar and Individual Hearings.
* Represent detained and non-detained clients in bond proceedings, asylum, withholding, CAT, and other forms of relief.
* Develop litigation strategy, prepare witnesses and evidence, and draft motions, briefs, and other substantive filings.
* Prepare BIA appeals, motions to reopen/reconsider, and other complex immigration matters.
* Handle or assist with immigration-related habeas and mandamus litigation in the Western District of Washington.
* Represent clients before USCIS when needed, including asylum, adjustment, and naturalization interviews.
* Work closely with our legal assistants and other attorneys while maintaining responsibility for case strategy, deadlines, and client representation.
What We’re Looking For
* Active membership in good standing in a U.S. state bar.
* At least 3 years of substantial U.S. immigration-law experience.
* *Hands-on EOIR removal-defense experience, including independently handling Individual/Merits Hearings.*
* Strong experience developing case strategy, preparing witnesses, and drafting substantive motions and briefs.
* Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and oral-advocacy skills.
* Ability to independently manage complex matters and competing deadlines.
* Ability and willingness to regularly appear in person in Seattle, Tacoma, and elsewhere in Washington as needed.
Especially Valuable Experience
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
* Detained immigration and bond proceedings
* Federal habeas corpus or mandamus litigation
* BIA appeals and complex motions
* Ninth Circuit petitions for review or appellate briefing
* Admission to the Washington State Bar and/or the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington
You do *not* need experience in every area listed above. Our highest priorities are substantial removal-defense experience, sound legal judgment, strong writing, and the ability to independently take ownership of complex cases.
