Join the UOC team! University Orthopedics Center, a leader in orthopedic care throughout Central PA for 35 years, is currently seeking a full-time Physical Therapist/Electromyography (EMG) Specialist for our State College and Altoona location.

The Physical Therapist/EMG Specialist provides comprehensive outpatient orthopedic physical therapy services while performing electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS) under the direction of the supervising physician(s). This position plays a key role in the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions.
The Physical Therapist collaborates closely with our orthopedic surgeons, physician assistants, and other clinical staff to ensure exceptional patient care and accurate diagnostic testing.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities*
*Physical Therapy Responsibilities*
* Evaluate patients and develop individualized treatment plans based on physician referrals and clinical findings.
* Establish measurable treatment goals and modify plans of care based on patient progress.
* Administer therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, neuromuscular re-education, gait training, balance training, and functional mobility programs.
* Utilize therapeutic modalities as appropriate.
* Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, home exercise programs, injury prevention, and wellness strategies.
* Document evaluations, daily treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries in the electronic medical record.
* Communicate patient progress and treatment recommendations with referring physicians and care team members.
* Ensure compliance with Medicare, commercial payer, and state documentation requirements.
*EMG / Nerve Conduction Study Responsibilities*
* Perform electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction velocity (NCV/NCS) studies within the scope of licensure and organizational policies.
* Prepare patients for diagnostic testing by explaining procedures and answering questions.
* Properly position patients and apply electrodes according to established protocols.
* Conduct high-quality diagnostic studies while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
* Collect and accurately document study data for physician interpretation.
* Recognize abnormal findings requiring immediate physician review.
* Maintain EMG equipment and perform quality assurance checks.
* Ensure adherence to infection prevention standards during all testing procedures.
* Coordinate scheduling and workflow for EMG testing.
* Assist physicians during specialized electrodiagnostic procedures as needed.
*Qualifications*
*Education*
* Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or Master of Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
*Licensure*
* Current Pennsylvania Physical Therapist License in good standing.
* Current CPR/BLS Certification.
*Preferred Qualifications*
* Advanced training and demonstrated competency in electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies.
* Board Certified or Board Eligible in Electrophysiology preferred
* Certification or completion of recognized electrodiagnostic training program preferred.
* Minimum of 2 years of outpatient orthopedic experience preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
