In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive dental hygiene services, educate patients on maintaining optimal oral health, and support the overall efficiency of our dental practice. *Duties*
* Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
* Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
* Conduct patient assessments by measuring vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
* Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and preventive care strategies.
* Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance workflow efficiency.
* Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic health records (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
* Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment to ensure a safe environment for all.
* Review documentation for accuracy, update medical histories, and assist with medical coding for billing purposes.
* Support pediatric dentistry cases by adapting communication and care strategies suitable for children and adolescents.
* Manage dental equipment operation, troubleshoot issues promptly, and ensure all tools are functioning correctly for safe patient care.
*Experience*
* Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic setting. Must have a current- Good Standing MA Hygienist License
* Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) management systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
* Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control standards.
* Experience performing dental x-rays (dental imaging) with attention to safety protocols.
* Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics, ensuring clear understanding of treatment plans.
* Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient confidentiality and data security.
* Prior experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry is highly preferred.
* Certification in dental assisting or related fields is advantageous but not required; ongoing education is encouraged to stay current with best practices.
