Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant

Job Description

Altru Rehabilitation Hospital, part of Altru Health System, is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will implement treatment plans under the direction of a Physical Therapist, support patients in regaining function and independence, and document patient progress accurately. You will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team in a compassionate, patient-centered environment that values respect, teamwork, and continuous learning. Responsibilities

  • Implement physical therapy treatment plans as directed by a licensed Physical Therapist
  • Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance and functional mobility training to patients
  • Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques
  • Monitor patient responses to treatment and report changes to the supervising Physical Therapist
  • Accurately document all treatments, patient progress, and communication in the EMR system
  • Assist with patient transfers, positioning, and use of assistive devices to promote safety and independence
  • Maintain a clean, safe treatment environment and ensure proper use and care of therapy equipment
  • Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory guidelines at all times
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences and collaborate with the broader care team
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, in-service training, and quality improvement initiatives
