Assistant Coach

Job Description

Position Summary:

The University of Utah Club Swim Team is seeking an assistant coach to help coach our competitive swimmers at practices and meets. We are a student-run club that provides a fun environment for any student at the University of Utah to compete in the pool.

We have an executive board that takes care of team management (gear, meet schedules, paperwork, etc.). You'll only have to worry about coaching, and having fun with the swimmers on deck!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coach college-age swimmers (~18-24 years of age)
  • Instruct competitive swimmers of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced
  • Work with our head coach to run practices and write sets
  • Give feedback at meets
  • Encourage a fun team environment

Schedule:

Practices:

  • Monday through Thursday: 6:00PM–7:30PM
  • Friday: 4:00PM–5:30PM
  • Saturday: 11:00AM–1:00PM

We practice from September through April (during the University of Utah school year).

4–6 meets per semester, with 2–3 of them being hosted at the University of Utah.

Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Previous coaching experience or competitive swim experience
  • Friendly with college-aged swimmers
  • Able to travel a few times per semester for meets (not necessary but would be nice)

Compensation:

  • $20-25 per practice, depending on experience
  • $20-25 hourly at meets and other team events
  • Gear from Arena
  • Extra compensation at travel meets
