Department: Surgery Department
Reports To: Director of Surgical Services
SUMMARY
A sterile process technician sterilizes and assembles the instrumentation and equipment required for surgery, exams and other medical procedures. Responsible for taking inventory and ordering equipment. Responsible for maintaining instruction for use of instrumentation and equipment used for sterilization processes. Responsible for maintaining Hazardous Materia list for the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
CSR/SPD experience preferred. One-year surgical experience within the last five years is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Central Service/Instrument Specialist Certification and/or Surgical Technician Certification. Certified Registered Central Service Technician is required within 6 months after the orientation has been completed. BLS certification.
