The purpose of this position is to ensure the integrity and accuracy of tenant records, billing and financial reporting for company-owned shopping centers and stores, as well as support the day-to-day function of the real estate department.
This position impacts Publix’s property management performance, the success of real estate teams, and the correct and efficient recording of tenant income, allowing Publix to continue its real estate-focused growth and uphold its reputation for excellence in the real estate property management industry.
Responsibilities Include:
Reviewing and interpreting all leases and ancillary legal documentation (e.g., amendments, addendums, agreements, declarations, assignments) for tenants leasing space within Publix-owned shopping centers to ensure accurate lease records and administration.
Providing support for day-to-day inquiries and training assistance for the real estate department.
Calculating the amounts due from (or owed to) all tenants for expenses incurred for the previous year of occupancy.
Analyzing and verifying monthly accruals and journal entries posted to multiple general ledger accounts (e.g., income statements, balance sheet accounts) to create monthly reporting/ schedules for each GL account.
Performing accounting for the closing transaction for land and shopping center acquisitions.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or another analytical discipline or equivalent experience or equivalent combination of formal training/certification and professional work experience that demonstrates the prerequisite competence to perform the duties of this position
Two years in an analytical field or role, such as finance, accounting, or real estate (e.g., common area maintenance settlements)
Knowledge of Accounting principles, Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payables functions, as well as accounting regulations

1 -2 years of experience in general real estate or accounting OR
1 year of experience as a Publix retail associate
knowledge and understanding of legal, Real Estate terminology and Uniform Commercial Code (“UCC”) section 1-303 on Course of Performance, Course of Dealing, and Usage of Trade
knowledge of various GAAP standards governing real estate accounting and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and controls relating to Expense Payables
