Nemours is seeking a Surgery Scheduler in Jacksonville, FL
Primary Function
This position is responsible for scheduling surgical procedures for assigned physician(s). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely collection and submission of necessary surgical documentation; coordinating with external operating rooms, ASCs, etc., to ensure patients are appropriately scheduled for surgeries and/or procedures.
Essential Functions
Coordinates the clinic and surgery schedules for the providers to ensure no conflicts exist. Maintains compliance with all HIPAA, compliance, and patient safety regulations for Nemours as well as our partners. Coordinates surgery schedule with internal and external operating rooms. Submits surgical clearances for the purpose of patient scheduling into the OR. Submits all necessary information to the pre-certification team to ensure appropriate insurance coverage is obtained prior to surgery/ procedure. Acts as the family's liaison between the surgical centers and clinical staff to ensure all education, authorizations and post op appointments are provided. Schedules outpatient and inpatient surgery, procedures, and testing for patients. Must have the ability to collaborate with internal and external partners. Regular attendance is required. Good communication and documentation skills are required.
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma
6 months to 1 year of job-related experience required.
Epic Experience required
Medical terminology preferred
Previous surgery scheduling experience preferred
