*Build Your Practice. Focus on Your Clients. Leave the rest to Us. *

At Nelson Jones, we help people navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Family law requires more than legal knowledge, it requires sound judgment, strong advocacy, and attorneys who are willing to lead clients through uncertainty with confidence and compassion.

We do not take a passive approach to legal representation. We prioritize responsiveness, accountability, and results. Our attorneys are expected to take ownership of their cases, communicate proactively, and move matters toward resolution with purpose. We partner with our clients to help them make informed, strategic decisions while providing exceptional legal representation.

*Why Nelson Jones?*

Whether you're currently with another firm or operating a solo practice, Nelson Jones provides the infrastructure to help attorneys succeed. Our attorneys benefit from:

* A consistent flow of qualified family law clients
* Dedicated intake, marketing, paralegal, and administrative support
* Modern technology and established operational systems
* A collaborative team environment that values mentorship and professional growth
* The opportunity to increase earnings through performance rather than business development alone

*Position Overview*

We are seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney with a minimum of two years of active practice experience.

This opportunity is well-suited for:

* Attorneys who want to increase their earnings based on performance
* Attorneys who are confident managing a full caseload and driving matters to resolution
* Solo practitioners who are tired of handling everything themselves and want to plug into an established system
* Attorneys who may be exploring the transition or integration of an existing book of business into a growing firm

*Responsibilities*

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Manage a full caseload of family law matters from intake through final resolution.
* Represent clients in divorce, custody, parent-time, child support, alimony, paternity, protective order, adoption, and post-decree modification matters.
* Develop legal strategy and provide practical, client-focused legal advice.
* Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, discovery, legal memoranda, settlement agreements, and other legal documents.
* Conduct legal research and remain current on developments in Utah family law.
* Prepare for and represent clients during mediations, settlement conferences, evidentiary hearings, and trials.
* Negotiate favorable resolutions while effectively advocating for clients when litigation is necessary.
* Proactively move cases forward while maintaining regular communication with clients, opposing counsel, and the court.
* Meet or exceed a monthly billing expectation of 133 billable hours while maintaining exceptional client service.

*Qualifications*

* Active Utah Bar membership in good standing.
* Minimum of two years of active family law practice experience.
* Demonstrated ability to independently manage a family law caseload.
* Strong litigation, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills.
* Excellent legal research and writing abilities.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
* Highly organized with the ability to effectively manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
* Commitment to providing outstanding client service and maintaining professionalism under pressure.

*Compensation & Benefits:*
We offer a highly competitive, performance-driven compensation structure designed to reward production and results.

Attorneys meeting expected performance metrics can reasonably expect earnings in the $140,000–$160,000+ range, with significantly higher earning potential for those who exceed production targets or bring an existing book of business.
