Treating Engineer 1 (2nd shift)

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Treating Engineer 1 for our 2nd shift operations in Cordele, GA. This role performs operational work related to daily work instructions, inspection, grading, treatment and materials. Operates the treating plant and water treatment system safely and proficiently. The expected work schedule is 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Operate and control systems by prescribed operating procedures, including, but not limited to the following major systems:
    • Boiler and pressure vessels, vacuum and condensate recovery systems, preservative mix, transfer and storage systems, hazardous and solid waste processing and storage, charge transfer tables and emergency response equipment.
  • Perform all duties of inspector, machine operator (2) and laborer positions as required
  • Operates all aspects of creosote treating at or above target production levels
  • Operates all aspects of the borate treating at or above target production levels
  • Operates all aspects of the water treatment system safely and proficiently
  • Operates all creosote unloading operations
  • Participates and contributes to company safety program
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: Two plus years treating experience and working with chemicals
  • License/Certification: Pesticide applicators license; Boiler Operating License
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of wood products and/or chemistry is preferred. Ability to prioritize work and handle changing priorities.
  • Required plant safety orientation
  • Pass the state pesticide certification exam
  • Respiratory training and pass the medical exam and fit test (clean shaved face may be required)
  • Solid knowledge of all federal and state regulations related to the treating department
  • Solid knowledge of quality control standards related to the treating department
  • Solid knowledge of customer specifications
  • Complete all required "Continuous Education Units" to keep pesticide certification
  • Solid knowledge on hazardous waste regulations
  • Possess the ability and knowledge to answer questions and make decisions on treatment, and complete all reports and forms
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
