Job Description:
Winchester Hospital is a 5x Magnet designated, Top Massachusetts recognized 226-bed regional hospital that is the leading provider of comprehensive health care services in the northwest suburban Boston area.
Contributing to the Hospital's mission involves addressing the needs of behavioral health patients. This role entails performing various direct and indirect patient care duties in collaboration with ED Clinical staff, ensuring effective teamwork to enhance the delivery of quality patient care.
Key responsibilities include:
Maintaining a solid understanding of hospital policies, protocols, and procedures.
Recognizing signs and symptoms of psychiatric diagnoses, including drug and alcohol withdrawal, and applying appropriate therapeutic interventions to prevent patient escalation.
Monitoring patient safety and promoting a positive, age-appropriate therapeutic and educational atmosphere.
Utilizing approved de-escalation techniques and interventions.
Responding to patient care needs, assisting with personal hygiene, and supporting daily living activities.
Collaborating with nursing staff to address patient nursing needs.
Assisting in the transfer process for patients entering and leaving the ED, ensuring safety and monitoring patient belongings.
Acting as a role model for other staff members.
Demonstrating knowledge of and respect for patient rights and privacy issues.
Promoting professional relationships among ED staff, psychiatric clinicians, and patient collaterals.
Functioning in the ED Tech role as needed for patient care.
Qualifications:
Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Degree in psychology or related field preferred with theoretical as well as practical knowledge of the clinical area.
Experience Preferred: Previous related experience. Knowledge of the care of the Behavioral Health Patient/Family unit.
Pay Range:
$21.00 - $28.26The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
Anna Jaques Hospital is a 123 bed community hospital serving 17 cities and towns in the Merrimack Valley . The hospital offers a wide range of acute care services to meet the needs of our growing patient population including inpatient and outpatient surgery in fully digitized computerized operating room suites, cardiology including echocardiography and a cardiac cath lab, comprehensive cancer services, orthopedics, nuclear medicine, laboratory, noninvasive vascular lab, joint replacement program and birth center.
Programs include the number one wound center in the nation, a primary stroke service, and Level III Trauma Center . The hospitals Non Invasive Vascular laboratory was accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL).
For the second year in a row, the American Association for Respiratory Care awarded the hospital its Quality Respiratory Care Recognition. The hospital had no ventilator acquired pneumonia cases during the last year.
The Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center is the only such center to receive full accreditation from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) in Massachusetts .
