The Reimbursement Analyst supports the preparation, analysis, and optimization of reimbursement across Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers. This role assists in cost report preparation, net revenue analysis, and regulatory compliance while developing a foundational understanding of healthcare reimbursement methodologies.Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
• Assist in the preparation of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports (e.g., HCRIS submissions, supporting schedules)
• Compile and validate data used in cost reports, including statistics, trial balance mapping, and adjustments
• Support audit requests and documentation for Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs)
• Maintain working knowledge of CMS reimbursement rules and regulatory changes
• Support monthly and quarterly net patient service revenue (NPSR) analysis
• Assist in variance analysis (actual vs. budget vs. prior year) across payers and service lines
• Prepare schedules supporting reserve calculations, settlements, and third-party estimates
• Analyze reimbursement trends and identify potential risks or opportunities
• Extract and reconcile data from systems such as Epic, Crowe RCA, and decision support tools
• Prepare recurring reports and dashboards for leadership
• Ensure accuracy and consistency of reimbursement-related data across systems
• Assist in standardizing reporting processes and documentation
• Support initiatives to improve efficiency in cost reporting and net revenue workflows
• Participate in special projects (e.g., reimbursement modeling, regulatory impact analysis)
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or related field
Licensure, Certification & Registration:
Experience: 0–2 years of experience in healthcare Finance, Accounting, or analytics
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
• Attention to detail with ability to manage large datasets
• Strong communication skills with ability to translate data into insights
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
1. Exposure to healthcare reimbursement concepts (Medicare, Medicaid, DRGs, APCs)
2. Familiarity with cost report software (e.g., HFS)
3. Experience with healthcare financial systems (e.g., Epic, Strata, Axiom)
4. Basic understanding of net revenue modeling and reserve methodologies
Pay Range:
$55,000.00 USD - $70,000.00 USDThe pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
Anna Jaques Hospital is a 123 bed community hospital serving 17 cities and towns in the Merrimack Valley . For the second year in a row, the American Association for Respiratory Care awarded the hospital its Quality Respiratory Care Recognition. The hospital had no ventilator acquired pneumonia cases during the last year.
The Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center is the only such center to receive full accreditation from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) in Massachusetts .
