Performs a wide variety of medical assisting activities during patient visits. Position involves extensive interaction with diverse populations including patients and medical staff. Reports to the Practice Administrator.Job Description:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs medical assisting duties, including but not limited to:
· Vital signs, height and weight
· EKGs
· Performs phlebotomy
· Removal of sutures
· Have experience in cast removal and set up for placement or replacement
· Set up and assists with routine procedures
· Keep all patient care areas clean, organized
· Proper disposal of instruments and hazards waste
· Making sure all exam rooms are stocked
· Reviews medication lists in MediTech
· Assist patient who may have physical and or psychological limitations with ambulation and patient care functions to ensure comfort and dignity during the exam.
· When needed transferring a patient from a wheelchair to exam table, undressing and dressing patients and ensuring patient is safe until provider enters room.
· Chaperone patient in exam room if requested
· If needed, escort patients to radiology and/or lab area.
· Performs check-in and check-out utilizing MediTech and CCC as needed
· Verification of patient demographics, insurance, collecting co-pays and verifying health care proxy and any and all information from patient which is necessary for their appointment.
· Become proficient in CCC and MediTech and will assist front desk when needed.
· Be able to cover front desk when needed.
May be required to perform similar or related duties as may be necessary on an emergency basis or as designated by the department manager.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School diploma or GED required. Completion of program as Certified Medical Assistant preferred. Associates degree preferred.
2. 1-3 yrs. Years related work experience required.
3. Current CPR certification (essential)
OTHER SKILLS PREFERRED:
1. Phlebotomy Certificate preferred
2. Cast removal and application
3. Worked with different specialties
4. Bi-lingual a plus

Pay Range:
$21.00 - $28.26The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
Anna Jaques Hospital is a 123 bed community hospital serving 17 cities and towns in the Merrimack Valley . The Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center is the only such center to receive full accreditation from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) in Massachusetts .
