The Team Lead Medical Assistant supports day-to-day clinical operations while serving as a mentor and a resource for Medical Assistants and other support staff. In addition to performing the full scope of MA I and MA II responsibilities, the Team Lead MA helps coordinate team workflows, reinforce training, and contribute to a positive patient and staff experience. This role collaborates closely with departmental leadership and clinical teams to ensure consistent, high-quality care.Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
o Perform all MA I and MA II responsibilities, including patient rooming, clinical support, documentation, and care coordination
o Acts as a mentor and preceptor to Medical Assistants and student externs
o Serve as a team resource on clinical workflows, EMR use, and department standards
o Monitors daily patient flow and address operational challenges (e.g., delays, room availability, supply issues)
o Resolves immediate patient concerns and service recovery, escalates where and when appropriate
o Supports provider efficiency and team coordination throughout the day
o Assists with onboarding, training, and reinforcing a positive patient experience, quality and safety protocols
o Liaise with managers and clinical teams to address issues and improve workflows
o Participates in or leads small-scale projects, quality initiatives, or workflow optimization efforts
o Reinforce clinical protocols, infection control practices, and departmental policies
o Helps support staff scheduling and float coverage as needed
Qualifications
Education
o High school diploma or GED required
o Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program preferred
Experience
o Minimum 3 years of Medical Assistant experience required or associate’s degree or higher in lieu of Medical Assistant experience
o Prior experience supporting clinical teams or projects strongly preferred
o Licensure, Certification, Registration
o Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 6 months of hire
o Medical Assistant Certification preferred

o Proven ability to mentor, train, and support peers in clinical settings
o Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to respond to day-to-day challenges
o Proficient with EMR systems, clinical protocols, and patient flow best practices

Pay Range:
$23.15 - $31.16The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
Anna Jaques Hospital is a 123 bed community hospital serving 17 cities and towns in the Merrimack Valley .
