Senior Test Engineering Technician – Gas Turbine Systems

Join a high-performing team responsible for designing, developing, and executing advanced testing solutions across our Engines & Power Systems portfolio. In this role, you will play a critical part in the development and certification of next-generation gas turbine engines.

Working alongside engineers and technicians, you will take ownership of testing activities across flow, spin pit, bearing, seals, and lubrication system test facilities. Your work will directly support our mission to deliver accurate, high-quality data to customers—right the first time.

You will also help maintain and improve test facilities and processes that enable product development, certification, and long-term support across the full Engines & Power Systems product line.

You will report to the Sr Test Engineering Manager, and you will work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on an in-person work schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintains and improves the assigned test facility in a way that ensures the cell is ready to execute tests for the current and future Honeywell product lines
  • Provides constructive feedback on test plans and test approaches
  • Models Safety, Honeywell Aerospace Behaviors and Continuous Improvement
  • Applies knowledge of complex mechanical products test methods to learn engine, rig, component, facility systems and test equipment
  • Supports team in establishing solutions to meet requirements for innovative test solutions for new and existing products

Work Environment & Schedule
  • Hands-on work in a lab and industrial test environment
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and work with large mechanical equipment and powered industrial vehicles
  • Occasional outdoor work
  • Overtime as needed (up to ~20%)
  • Occasional travel (<10>
  • Primarily 1st shift; must be flexible to support 2nd or 3rd shifts as testing demands


Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of directly related experience as a Turbine Engine or Aviation technician or 5 years of experience testing mechanical systems or components.

WE VALUE
  • Experience independently executing complex gas turbine engine or component testing
  • Strong troubleshooting capability with complex mechanical systems
  • Proven ability to lead or contribute to root cause investigations and corrective actions
  • Experience supporting safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound decisions in ambiguous situations
  • Experience collaborating across teams to implement improvements
  • Relevant advanced education or certifications (e.g., A&P license, military technical training)

FAA Employment Requirements

All applicants for placement in DOT/FAA safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test, testing for Marijuana, Cocaine, Amphetamines (amphetamine, methamphetamine, MDMA, MDA), Phencyclidine (PCP), and Opioids (codeine, heroin, morphine, oxycodone, oxymorphone, hydrocodone, hydromorphone). The DOT/FAA regulations require all employees, regular and temporary, in safety-sensitive positions, to be included in the Honeywell Anti-drug and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Plan.
