WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Accounting Manager is responsible for general ledger analysis, adjusting journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and related tasks to support the Finance Department and NKF objectives.

This position is expected to participate in the monthly close process, identify process improvements, and maintain appropriate accounting control procedures and records for assigned tasks:

Analysis, Entries, and Reconciliations

Monthly reconciliation of NKF’s investment portfolioMaintain a schedule of investment sales with realized gain/loss calculationsPrepare all monthly investment activity entriesMaintain and reconcile the monthly detailed fixed asset schedules detailing cost, useful life, and depreciation/amortizationPrepare monthly entries to record depreciation/amortization and adjustments, if applicable.Conduct an annual audit of fixed assetsPrepare monthly bank reconciliationsConsult with the AR team to resolve reconciling itemsMaintain updated bank reconciliationsMaintain monthly store activity records, including sales, inventory movement, and related reconciliationsMaintain and reconcile FIFO inventory reports to ensure inventory valuation accuracy and proper cost accountingReconcile all other major balance sheet accounts monthly

Cash Transactions

Record Inter-bank transfers, bank fees, and interest paymentsReconcile and record petty cash advance transactions

Credit Card Transactions

Research disputed duplicate and/or fraudulent credit card chargesProcess credit card refundsAnalyze credit card processing fees and trends

Other

Serve as the Corporate Finance Department’s team member who is responsible for general ledger accounting entries and supportUpdate Wire Cash Receipts /Disbursement Schedule dailyPrepare ad hoc audit schedules and analyses as neededPerforms additional duties as required

WHAT YOU’LL POSSESS

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience (preferably with a national nonprofit organization)Experience with maintaining complicated worksheetsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP functions, data analysis, and reportingProficiency in Microsoft Word required. Knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains accounting software is a plusAbility to complete tasks on a timely basis and meet the monthly closing cycle deadlineStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work both independently and as a member of a teamAbility to interact professionally with all levels of NKF, including Headquarters, Field Services staff, and volunteersAbility to handle a variety of assignments simultaneouslyDetail-oriented and excellent organizational skills


WORKING CONDITIONS, EQUIPMENT USED AND SPECIAL INFORMATION

Must have unimpeachable integrity and trustworthiness and possess a high degree of tact, discretion, and professionalism. Verbal and written communication skills will be used daily. Maintains effectiveness under pressure. Use a multiple-line telephone, personal computer, fax machine, photocopier, and other standard office equipment. Flexible to work overtime as needed.
