Sr Advanced Quality Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a Quality Manager to bridge the gap between our technical and engineering teams, product stakeholders, and the end-user – our operators, while acting as a strategic leader responsible for ensuring high-quality Aeronautical Database and Software delivery.

In this role, you will need deep technical expertise in testing automation, strong analytical abilities for data-driven decision-making, and leadership skills to foster a quality-first culture.

The individual in this position is responsible for providing aerospace-level quality assurance support to the Aeronautical Databases and Software customer base – airlines, business jet operators, and general aviation. The Quality Manager will work closely with the Navigation/Terrain/INDS Database teams, Account Management team, Distribution, Software Delivery, as well as Navigation/Displays/Flight Management Systems engineering. They will direct activities to define and deploy quality improvement programs as needed to ensure defect-free Aeronautical Databases and Software.

This position involves influencing the development, and use of best practice processes in the production of our products, and applying six sigma methodologies with our customers. The position requires a breadth of technical experience across multiple programs and products, both electrical and mechanical, work with our customers in determining appropriate quality requirements and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain customer relationships, including hosting customer visits and audits and advocating customer concerns to resolution within Honeywell (approx. 6 per year)
  • Lead and assist with the development and improvement of best practice processes for all phases of Aeronautical Databases and Software to include production, distribution, account services, and data suppliers
  • Initiate and assist with investigations through Corrective Action Request (CAR) and RCCA’s for Aeronautical Database- and Software-related quality escapes
  • Coordinate and participate in cross-functional teams including Services and Connectivity Product Action Committee (PAC), Aerospace Quality Management, INDS JPT, and Distribution/Delivery
  • Co-lead the INDS Quality team with Jeppesen counterpart
  • Prepare Database and Software quality & projects status monthly
  • Support and assist with periodic regulatory audits (FAA Type II LOA)
  • Collect and analyze quality data for periodic reporting and trend analysis
  • Identify areas for improvement and develop quality improvement projects (QIPs)
  • Conduct cycle quality reviews (QTCM’s) with data suppliers, NavDB, AMDB, and INDS management teams (total of 1 per month)
  • Assist as requested with Terrain Database, Aircraft Personality Module (APM), Airline Modifiable
  • Information (AMI), Operational Program Configuration (OPC), and software distribution programs for process improvement and quality issues
  • Initiate and oversee change impact analyses associated with data, tool, process, supplier, quality management system, and LOA changes


Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in technical disciplines such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in a Quality, Six Sigma, Engineering, Services and Connectivity, IT or relevant role at Honeywell

  • Working knowledge of aerospace quality practices and standards including regulatory and industry (AS9100 and Federal Air Regulations Parts 21, 91, 135, etc.)
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving skills, and ability to translate solutions into practical actions
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Presentation skills for customer visits and internal meetings
  • Effective communication skills for all levels of leadership
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification

Technical Skills
  • Test Automation and Tools Expertise
  • Testing Methodologies (Agile? DevOps?)
  • Programming and Scripting (Proficiency in languages such as Python? JavaScript? What else?)
  • Data Analysis and Metrics (Ability to interpret data, identify trends, detect anomalies, track KPIs, identify new KPIs for better quality and escape detection
  • Risk Management (proactively identifying risks, assessing their impact, and developing mitigation strategy to prevent quality issues
