Our coaches are actively engaged in the Notre Dame community and embrace the mission and values of St. Julie Billiart and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. The role of our coaches includes being responsible for coaching, character development and providing direction to student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in their sport.
This job requires you to interact thoughtfully and respectfully with student athletes, fellow coaches, staff, parents and community and well as follow the mission of the school. Positive communication strategies, organizational skills, and safety awareness are key requirements.
Key Elements:
Follow and uphold the policies and mission statement of the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur.
Assist in planning, organizing, and directing their respected program.
Instruct and demonstrate skill sets and techniques necessary for individual development.
Attend informational parent meetings at the beginning of each season.
Create a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Work directly with the school athletic trainer in reporting injuries, teaching precautions and procedures to ensure staff/student safety and help students prevent injuries.
Model good sportsmanship behavior and maintain appropriate conduct toward opposing team, fans, parents, officials, spectators and community.
Responsibilities:
Organization, implementation, and execution of in-season and off-season practices and small group workouts. Positively motivate players to achieve maximum levels of performance.
Organize and execute a Middle School fall tournament.
Scouting of opponents; live scouting; game strategies; breakdown of film if applicable.
Breakdown of Notre Dame game film.
Stat collection, record keeping during/after games.
Organization, implementation, and execution of summer camp(s).
Participate in all required school and league meetings, special events, team gatherings
Assist with administrative responsibilities, such as uniform distribution, attendance, equipment, etc.
Willingness to create and assist with service-oriented projects with the team(s).
Positive energy and positive, direct communication in support of the Academy of Notre Dame and all constituents. Demonstrate highly effective oral and written communication skills.
Commitment to academic, moral, ethical, character development and support of student-athletes.
Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Applicants for this position must have previous High School, College or Club level coaching experience. The applicants must possess a positive coaching philosophy, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.
