Senior Traffic Design Lead

Role description:

Arcadis is looking for a proven Senior Traffic Design Lead to join our Transportation team and help shape high profile roadway projects across the eastern United States.

In this role, you will lead a talented team of engineers delivering complex traffic design projects across the eastern US. You will play a central role in signing and marking, ITS, signal, tolling, and intersection design work, guiding projects from concept through delivery. This position offers the chance to lead mid-level and junior staff, work on major Interstate and arterial improvements, and partner directly with state agencies, municipalities, and contracting teams. You will have a strong voice in project strategy, client engagement, production oversight, budget management, and quality control, while also helping grow trusted client relationships through delivery and business development efforts.

This hybrid position may be based in one of our Eastern US offices. You will have the flexibility of a hybrid schedule, along with opportunities to collaborate in person with colleagues and clients when it matters most.

Role accountabilities:
  • Lead a high performing team of engineers in developing traffic, ITS, and tolling plan elements for major Interstate and arterial projects
  • Drive scope, schedule, and budget performance for traffic tasks on major traditional and design build projects
  • Provide quality assurance leadership on highly complex projects where precision and sound judgment matter
  • Build strong client relationships by leading technical discussions, presenting results, and serving as a trusted advisor throughout project delivery
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, helping strengthen technical capability and consulting skills across the team

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience post degree
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • PE in a US-based jurisdiction with the ability to obtain your PE in other jurisdictions (as needed) within six months of hire.
  • Expertise in the use of Microstation/Open Roads Designer, GuideSign, and SignCAD
  • Must possess a US Drivers license

Preferred Skills and Proficiencies:
  • Experience leading design teams for successful delivery of design build projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail is critical in the success of this position.
  • Ability to work well in groups as well as independently.

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $101,376 - $184,477. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
