Revenue & Recovery Technician I - FQHC Billing (English/Spanish Bilingual Required)

The County of Riverside University Health System Community Health Centers is seeking a Revenue and Recovery Technician I to support Federally Qualified Health Center operations in Riverside.

The Revenue and Recovery Technician I will perform routine revenue and recovery activities involving the collection and verification of financial information, account follow-up, payment arrangements, and customer service support for patients and responsible parties. Incumbents will gather and verify information related to patient accounts through correspondence, telephone contact, interviews, and various information systems. Additional responsibilities include monitoring accounts for payment activity, assisting with delinquent account resolution, preparing correspondence and documentation, reviewing incoming mail and account updates, maintaining accurate records, and explaining payment obligations, policies, and procedures to patients and the public while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center, medical office, clinic, or healthcare revenue cycle environment
• Experience in medical billing, patient account follow-up, insurance verification, billing support, payment collection, or customer service
• Knowledge of Medi Cal, Medicare, and managed care plans
• Experience utilizing electronic medical record systems and healthcare-related computer applications
• Strong data entry, organizational, and customer service skills
• Cash handling experience
• Bilingual skills in English and Spanish
• The ability to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations in a fast-paced healthcare setting

Schedule:
5/40 - Monday through Friday day shift during the first 90 days of employment, transitioning to a 9/80 Monday through Friday day shift schedule thereafter. This position is on-site and not eligible for telework.

Learn more about RUHS Community Health Centers .• Determine or verify address, employment, earnings, assets, and other financial information through correspondence or interviews with responsible parties; utilize various skip-tracing techniques and contact public and private agencies to obtain further information on the clients' whereabouts, financial status, and employment history; carry out the recovery of money owed by letter, telephone contact, or personal interview.
• Interpret and explain regulations and legal obligations to clients; set up payment schedules; monitor accounts for payment; make recommendations regarding the resolution of delinquent accounts.
• Review and make follow-up determinations on incoming mail; draft original correspondence to clients; may collect and receipt money under supervision.
• Receive instruction in the gathering of information to be used in obtaining legal action against clients; may file legal actions; may accompany the Revenue and Recovery Technician II to court hearings involving the failure of clients to pay debts. Education:
Graduation from high school or attainment of a satisfactory score on G.E.D. test.

AND

Experience:
One year of experience performing collections activities including gathering financial information and scheduling account payments.

OR
Two years of clerical experience involving public contact in a field related to the collection of delinquent accounts. (Education from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience on the basis of 18 semester or 27 quarter units in secretarial science, office practices, or a closely related field.)
