The Jr Architectural Historian provides administrative and program support to the Historic Preservation team, specifically for the Section 106 component of Environmental reviews and evaluations for funding granted by HUD CDBG. The position is responsible for assisting the Historic Preservation team on multiple projects simultaneously
Job Duties:
- Works in a team environment that implements strategies, processes and solutions
- Supports the project team with National Environmental Policy Act environmental reviews for HUD Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery projects
- Communicates progress of tasks, problems, and resolutions to team members
- Researches and identifies complex project issues or problems
- Supports the Historic Preservation Team with Section 106 environmental reviews for HUD-funded Programs as it pertains to archaeology and architectural history
- Assists with document submissions to State SHPO and Tribes for Section 106 compliance
- Completes year-built analysis using aerial imagery, maps, and provided documentation
- Documents QC and editing
- Assists with historic background research as needed
- Other duties as required
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:
- Master’s degree that meets the Secretary of Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards for Architectural History or History, preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, architectural history, historic preservation, or city planning, preferred
Experience:
- Demonstrated experience with word processing, spreadsheet management, and data base (end user) experience, required
License/Certifications:
- SOI Qualifications in Architectural History, preferred
Software:
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word and Excel, required
Language:
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must pay excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and workflows
