The Parts Runner supports daily operations in the shop by transporting parts and supplies wherever they are needed. This role is responsible for moving tools, materials, and equipment between suppliers, warehouses, and job sites to keep construction crews fully stocked and productive. This is accomplished by ensuring timely deliveries, maintaining basic inventory accuracy, and assisting with site organization.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport heavy equipment parts to and from designated locations in a timely manner
- Secure loads for safe transport
- Inspect the delivery vehicle regularly to ensure it's in good working condition
- Restock shop supplies and ensure work areas are tidy and safe
- Load and unload parts and ensure they are securely transported to prevent damage
- Accurately complete required paperwork
- Strong attention to detail
- Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager
- Follow direction of supervisor as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or job site
- Perform other tasks as directed by management
Work Requirements
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary
Education/ Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in a delivery or driving role is a plus
- Experience in a shop or warehouse setting is preferred
- Previous knowledge of automotive tools or truck parts preferred
Knowledge/ Skill Requirements
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items that could weigh up to 70 pounds
- Able to work in all weather conditions
- The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hand and arms above their shoulders
Work Environment
- The employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, or hazardous chemicals. They may also encounter moving mechanical parts, high or unstable locations, outdoor weather, noise levels vary by area and can range from moderate to loud.
