At Crowley, the Senior Analyst, Finance is more than an analytical role—it’s a chance to help design and shape a growing FP&A function. You’ll work within a newly established team to build foundational processes, implement tools, and deliver insights that directly influence strategic direction and operational outcomes across the business.
Responsibilities:
What You'll Do:
Provides financial planning and analysis (FP&A) support across multiple lines of business. Owns complex budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis; translates large and disparate datasets into clear insights and recommendations for leaders; and drives continuous improvement in planning processes, forecasting accuracy, and management reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead annual budget and periodic forecast cycles for assigned functions and lines of business; develop driver-based models and document assumptions.
- Perform month-end/quarter-end financial analysis (actuals vs. budget/forecast/prior year), identify key drivers, and provide concise narratives and executive-ready materials.
- Build and maintain financial models for scenario planning, headcount planning, and capital investment proposals; assess ROI, NPV/IRR, and payback period where applicable.
- Partner with business leaders to improve resource allocation and operating efficiency; proactively surface risks and opportunities and recommend actions.
- Develop and automate dashboards and recurring reports; improve data quality and definitions, and standardize KPI reporting.
- Analyze complex datasets and perform ad hoc analyses to answer high-impact business questions.
- Support governance and compliance needs (policy adherence, audit readiness, documentation) and contribute to process improvements in planning and reporting.
Key Deliverables / Success Measures
- Accurate, timely monthly variance analysis with clear driver-based insights and actionable recommendations.
- On-time delivery of budget/forecast cycles with documented assumptions and traceable model logic.
- Improved reporting efficiency through automation and standardization (e.g., reduced manual effort, fewer reconciliations, improved data quality).
- Trusted partnership with stakeholders as evidenced by proactive identification of risks and opportunities and effective decision support.
Qualifications:
Education & Credentials:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field required. Equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience may be considered. MBA and/or CFA charterholder or progress toward CFA (Level I/II) preferred.
Experience:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or a related analytical finance role, with demonstrated ownership of budgets/forecasts and executive-facing deliverables.
- Experience supporting multiple stakeholders and managing competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience with data analytics and building scalable reporting solutions strongly preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced Excel skills required (e.g., PivotTables, Power Query/Power Pivot, complex formulas; VBA a plus).
- Proficiency with PowerPoint for executive-ready storytelling.
- Experience building dashboards and self-service reporting in Power BI or similar environment preferred.
- Strong quantitative skills (forecasting, variance analysis, scenario modeling); statistical or predictive modeling experience is a plus.
