TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Traffic Control Technician to join our team in Houston, Texas. SummaryThe Traffic Control Technician performs traffic closures consisting of delineating devices (traffic barrels, vertical panels, and chevrons) and towing trailers (DMS's, arrow boards, etc.) in highway traffic.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Work as part of construction team to divert traffic from the work area
- Accurately layout a traffic management scheme in accordance with basic rules, from a generic traffic control diagram
- Set up cones, barrels, signs, temporary barricades and other traffic control and safety devices; as well as the loading & unloading of these devices
- Check work zone throughout shift to be sure items are still in their proper location
- Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job site
Requirements and QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) strongly preferred.
- Must maintain driver's license in good standing as verified by TransCore, CDL a plus.
- Prior lane closure experience preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of the TMUTCD book
- Willingness and ability to work varied schedules day or night
- Required to wear all safety PPE as defined by TransCore Safety Manager
- Must follow safe work practice
- Ability to work in high and low speed environments
- Subject to on-call schedule
