Role description:

Arcadis is looking for an Industrial Hygiene (IH) Specialist to join its Charlotte, North Carolina team. This hybrid position involves budget tracking, technical report writing and/or reviews, along with client interactions. The specialist will manage and execute a wide range of industrial hygiene projects throughout the southeastern United States, particularly those involving asbestos and hazardous building materials, indoor air quality and mold investigations, IH exposure monitoring, and report preparation. A current North Carolina Asbestos Inspector license is preferred. Arcadis will provide job-specific training as needed.

Role accountabilities:

As an Industrial Hygiene Specialist, you will be responsible for creating detailed project proposals, reports, and deliverables. You will coordinate and review project documentation with internal consultants, clients, contractors, and other team members. You will be expected to complete the Arcadis Certified Project Management (CPM) training and then serve as a CPM on Arcadis projects. As a member of the IH CoP, you will collaborate with junior staff, senior technical experts, and project managers in multidisciplinary environmental teams. Primary duties:
  • Provide technical reviews associated with project deliverables.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff.
  • Managing project budgets, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Communicating with clients, project staff, and subcontractors to coordinate scope, resources, and schedules.
  • Preparing proposal documents.
  • Reviewing field documentation and data and assessing findings.
  • Understanding analytical data and interpreting laboratory reports.
  • Providing technical peer review of deliverables for clients, such as abatement reports.

In this role, travel may be required, including multi-day overnight trips. Candidates must have a valid driver's license.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities, familiarity with project management tools, processes, and techniques, and excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize, delegate tasks, make decisions quickly, and maintain a focus on quality and effective communication.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a science-related discipline or equivalent years of experience.
  • At least five years of experience in professional services or consulting.
  • Understanding of the asbestos state regulations associated with the eastern US.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state regulations for asbestos, mold, and related matters.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $88,800 - $133,200. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
