Performs Decontamination and advanced sterilization processes (steam, flash, steriad).
Provides direct assistance to Physicians, Physician Assistants, Anesthesiologists, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and RNs in the delivery of care to patients across the age spectrum (i.e. patient transport, equipment, supplies, room preparation, specimens and medications).
Maintains accurate documentation as relates to activities, responsible for documentation of lot numbers for all sterilized items for tracking and recall purposes.
Assists Anesthesia Providers by preparing patients, positioning, induction, anesthesia delivery including blocks and emergence.
Maintain designated supply levels.
Education: High School diploma / GED.
Experience: 1 year direct patient healthcare experience and completion of Carilion Anesthesia Tech I competencies required.
Licensure/Certifications/Registration: Must successfully complete AHA BLS-HCP within 2 months of hire and maintain throughout employment.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, critical thinking skills, communication and team working skills required. Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation for position. Must meet all level I competencies within 6 weeks of hire/start. Must be able to fulfill fundamental components/essential elements of position. Basic computer skills. Ability to work in a high pressure/rapid paced environment. Ethical and legal issues and responsibilities. Biologic hazards, infection control, and standard precautions.
