*Job Overview*
We are seeking a *Hands-On Lead Mechanic*. You will be *99%* hands-on, leading by example in the bays to maintain and repair our fleet of mixer trucks, and support equipment. The Lead Mechanic at Wingra Redi Mix is responsible for diagnosis and repair of the company’s fleet of redi-mix trucks, on-road trucks, trailers, and support equipment. The Lead Mechanic will also assist in supporting teammates by providing knowledge and technical experience.
*Responsibilities*
* Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on redi-mix trucks, tractors, trailers, and related equipment
* Schedule and prioritize repairs to meet production and delivery demands when necessary
* Troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, air brakes, and drivetrains
* Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Wingra Redi Mix safety standards
* Conduct and review DOT inspections and maintain required documentation
* Order parts, manage inventory, and work with vendors and service providers
* Maintain accurate maintenance records and repair histories
*Qualifications*
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience maintaining heavy-duty trucks with _*Redi Mix*_ truck experience being preferred
* Prior leadership experience in a fleet or shop environment
* Strong diagnostic skills with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, and air brake systems
* Working knowledge of DOT regulations and inspection requirements
* Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software
* Valid CDL is a plus or ability to obtain preferred
* ASE certifications a plus
* Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
*Physical Requirements*
* Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
* Ability to work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, grease, and outdoor conditions
* Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work under vehicles for extended periods
*Schedule & Work Environment*
* Full-time position with occasional overtime
•On-call or after-hours work may be required to support fleet operations
Pay: $34.00 - $40.00 per hour
