Radiology Technologist

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: Coordinates and performs the diagnostic radiographic and computed tomography procedures on patients, according to provider/physician orders.  Performs proper x-ray exposure to aid in the diagnosis of fractures, diseases, and other injuries.  Performs CT examinations with knowledgeable operation of the scanner and scan protocols. The technologist must prepare and position patients for the x-ray or CT examination and take the appropriate images.  The technologist also must process imaging plates, inspect, maintain, and make minor repairs to the x-ray and CT equipment.

 

The RT works under the direct supervision of the radiology manager and the consulting radiologists from Billings Clinic and Virtual Radiology. He or she also works to satisfy the demands of the ordering physician under the means of the radiology department and contributes to the efficient operation of the department, ensuring the quality and continuity of patient care. The radiologic technologist may also be expected to help with tasks associated with mammography and to perform the following exams; Pulmonary function tests, Holter/cardiac event monitor hookups, EKGs, and/or ultrasounds.
