A great opportunity for students looking to make extra money over the summer.  The Lab Technician role within the Technical Services department is responsible for testing the iron samples used when pouring molds. These iron samples are sent to the Lab from the production floor through a tubing system. The Lab Technician takes the iron sample writes the time on it and then grinds it with grinder tools until the sample is smooth. Then another Lab Technician inspects the sample under a microscope to ensure the iron is melting properly.  The Lab Technician is also responsible for testing the sand that is used to make molds to ensure the consistency and chemistry are correct. The Lab Technician responsible for testing the sand operates a jeep to go to each machine to collect samples. As part of a team guided by Core Operations, Core Support works with other team members on designated machines to assemble units made from sand in a timely, accurate manner.
