Responsibilities
The primary purpose of Ophthalmic Technician is to provide advanced level technical support to the Ophthalmology Clinics, Faculty and Residents, and to perform various services, as directed, to facilitate patient care and efficient clinic operation.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Credentials required: 1 – 2 years of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant or as an Ophthalmic Technician. 1) JCAHPO (Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology) Certification at the Ophthalmic Assistant required at hire. Ophthalmic Technician certification to follow within one (1) year of hire as an Ophthalmic Technician. Current certification in a related field considered for substitution. This substitution is made on a case by case basis.
