Altarum Institute # Positions 1 Location US-MI-Ann Arbor Category Current Opening Overview Altarum's Center for Value in Health Care is seeking a research analyst to support multiple projects aimed at improving the quality of health care while lowering costs. Specific focus areas may include assessing the value and economic impacts of investments to improve health and life outcomes, performing cost-benefit analyses of health and non-health interventions, measuring low value care and appropriateness of care in claims data, and health sector spending analysis. You will have the opportunity to use your knowledge of research design, data analysis, statistics, economics, health care and delivery, and the social determinants of health to generate insights that inform health care solutions. Specific tasks may include data management, statistical analysis, economic modeling, literature reviews, claims data analysis, report or publication writing, and presentation of results to colleagues or clients. During your career at Altarum you will work on many studies and your specific tasks and responsibilities may evolve and change over time. Responsibilities Providing support to all aspects of the research process on multiple ongoing research studies, including study design, data collection, data analysis, and reporting Synthesize data and communicate analyses into simple language for clients and other audiences Balance the needs of multiple simultaneous projects with competing deadlines Liaise and coordinate with many different research partners Self-manage time and resources effectively Follow all applicable privacy and confidentiality procedures in daily work Qualifications Bachelor's degree with at least two years of experience working in health or complementary field; Master's degree in public health, health policy, or economics preferred. Knowledge of wide range of research methods and processes, including literature reviews, quantitative analysis, qualitative methods, and formal writing. Knowledge and experience working with publicly-available survey and economic data, such as US Census surveys, Bureau of Labor Statistics data, and CDC surveys and data. Technical proficiency in analytical software including Microsoft Excel and statistical packages including Stata, R, SAS or similar. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Analytical thinker with exceptional attention to quality and detail. An inquisitive and innovative nature, integrity, willingness to step into new roles, team-focused mentality, and a commitment to continuously learning and improving. Demonstrated skills in time management.
